Dear Ministry Student,
Are you interested in an exciting opportunity to grow your youth and/or children’s ministry skills, encourage young believers and reach out to a lost society looking for hope? Do you desire to be involved with a growing and moving church that strives to reach the community in new and vibrant ways with the message of salvation through our friend and king, Jesus Christ? The
Central Church Intern program is designed for young adults (college age and older) who demonstrate a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, who seek challenge and growth as a servant-leaders for Christ, and who have the willingness to commit themselves to a summer of service and learning under the supervision of staff and lay leaders.
We are a multi-denominational church of about 600 people. We are a fundamentally evangelical church that focuses boldly on sound beliefs – while reaching out to the whole community in a hope that they will accept the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. We are officially sponsored by the United Methodist Church. But, we have a pastoral staff that also includes Conservative Baptist, Nazarene, Assembly of God, and Presbyterian backgrounds and have denominational affiliation with American Baptist, Church of
Christ, and Disciples of Christ. As a church, we are trying to reach people in their area of interest in order that they may hear our message. We currently have three different worship services in which we celebrate different styles. We are a church that is known for helping the community in many caring ways.
We host a number of interns each summer. This year, we will hire four to six interns, two to four who will work within the Youth ministry and two within our Children’s ministry. Our intern program will run from June 8th (or 15th, depending on school schedule) thru August 17th. They will lead our Youth and Children’s along side our Youth Pastor, Children’s Director and volunteers.
Our pay package includes hourly pay ($2500 - $3000); host homes are provided during your internship, as are meals. We pay for all ministry expenses, personal expenses are your responsibility. We want to give our interns the opportunity to have high-level experience in ministry and encourage them to use their gifts and abilities to bring Christ to lost youth and children and spur believers into a deeper walk with the Savior. The Tri-Cities, composed of Richland, Kennewick, and Pasco, has a population of about 100,000. Farming, scientific research and small industry are the economic strengths of the area. Richland, itself, has a large number of professionals because of the work in environmental cleanup from past nuclear operations. The Tri-Cities area offers a wide variety of recreational activities with plentiful sunshine and famous river activities. For more area information you can look online at www.visittri-cities.com (Visitors and Convention Bureau) or www.kadlecmed.org ( Kadlec Medical Center, hospital near church) and select area link.
We ask that you prayerfully fill out the enclosed application and return it by Wednesday, April 15, 2009. If you have any questions, please contact our administrative assistant, Ashlee Ballinger, at (509) 943-1143, ext. 125 or ashleeb@cupchurch.org
