Summer Camp Staff Position at the Coast!

SUMMER MINISTRY POSITIONS AT THE BEACH! 

Cannon Beach Christian Conference Center has over 75 summer staff positions in a variety of areas including Kids and Youth Programs, Food Service (wait staff, dishes, kitchen, coffee shop), Housekeeping, and more. All positions are paid and include room and board and have the opportunity to raise additional funds and/or earn a scholarship to help pay for college tuition.  Time off is provided for fellowship, relaxation, and exploring one of the most beautiful coastal areas in the Pacific Northwest. Cannon Beach Christian Conference Center has been offering one week family Bible conferences since 1945.  Our staff has the opportunity to join this heritage of ministry while learning new job skills, making new friends, earning money for school, and growing in their walk with Christ. Applicants should be at least 18 years of age with a desire to serve in a family-oriented Christian ministry.

Youth Director in Woodland, WA.

We are in need of a youth director to assist in our youth programs at Woodland presbyterian Church in Woodland, Washington. The work consists of three parts, the Senior High School Group (once a week); the Junior High School Group (once a week) and the After School Adventures (One day per week) plus other unscheduled activity times necessary keep the youth’s interest in participating.  The current timing for meetings may be modified to fit the successful candidates schedule somewhat.  We want to be flexible.  The ideal candidate will have a Christian background and enough Bible knowledge to teach and direct our youth in the directions of the Bible.  The successful candidate will need to posses at least a high school education and currently enrolled in an institution of higher education.  Some Seminary would be preferable.  The hours are between 20 and 30 hours per week and the pay will be commensurate with the skills of the individual; likely between $10.00 -$13.00 /hr.

Two Part-Time Youth Director Postings:

 The Aloha and Christ United Methodist Churches near Beaverton, Oregon are each hiring a Youth Director for approximately 15 hours per week.  These are separate positions, but the two candidates selected will be working closely together to continue leadership of a vibrant, cooperative youth ministry.  The weekly schedule is flexible, but the duties include leading a team of volunteers in implementing a youth ministry program on Sunday evenings, meeting regularly with Church leadership, attending Sunday morning worship services to interface with youth, staff and families and promoting and encouraging youth in leadership roles. 

Prior experience with youth ministry is required. 

Pay range is $600 to $900 per month with no benefits.

Both sites are accessible via Tri-Met Bus.

JOB DESCRIPTION:  Assistant to Eric Engerbretson, the director of the Nuart Theater.  We are looking for a young man who would like to do relationship-based evangelism, who is an avid reader, and would like to utilize music, books, movies, counseling, and other creative and culturally relevant methods of ministry.  He would preferably be experienced in ministry, especially to youth.  With a position at the Nuart, he would have as tools for his creative ministry, a 500 seat theater, with stage, movie screen, PA system, laptop projection, and a coffeehouse stage with PA system, and a comfortable coffeehouse atmosphere with espresso bar.This person must be outgoing, compassionate, a good listener and a hard worker. Skills in building maintenance are a plus.  The applicant must have a winning personality and truly enjoy making friends and meeting new people.  He must be able to communicate clearly and eagerly the message of the Gospel, the teachings of Christ, and be comfortable with using his testimony to draw people toward a relationship with Christ.

Much of the assistant’s time would be spend being the proprietor of the coffeehouse/bookstore, making espresso drinks for people who come in the store, and helping them to find books that might help them or their friends…  establishing friendship contacts, with the goal of helping people to walk with God.  He would be encouraged to form and lead bible studies, and organize any events that he felt would promote the cause of the Gospel.  He would work with volunteer staff and help them to learn how to share their faith effectively.

This assistant would work side-by-side with Eric Engerbretson to maximize the potential of the Nuart Theater facility.  Eric’s duties at the Nuart have included: building maintenance, secretarial, management, book purchasing, music performance, band booking, counseling, advertising, graphics, accounting, staff training, event management, sound design & repair, janitorial, promotion and fund-raising, web design, computer maintenance, etc.  The assistant we are looking for would be expected to share in many or most of these duties.  The specific job description is rather open-ended due to the fact that it will by nature be very flexible and will actually form around the gifts, skills and vision of the applicant. Eric would work with him to craft a position and goals that are ideally suited to the assistants’ gifts and skill set.  He would be expected to meet with Eric each week for prayer, planning, and evaluation of goals.

A Youth Ministry degree, or years of ministry work experience would be ideal for this candidate, but is certainly not a requirement.  The right person is the right person, regardless of experience.

We are fully willing to train.  The right person, though, must have a fervent love for God, and love for others, and have an attractive, outgoing personality and strong desire to win hearts for God.

COMMITMENT:  We are looking for a 1-year commitment to start with.  Ideally, we are looking for someone who would be open to doing this sort of ministry for 10-to-life.  The assistant would be required to spend an average of 40 hrs per week at the Nuart.

TEACH ELEMENTARY MISSION-KID SCHOOL IN ENGLISH (Honduras, Central America)  

We are looking for elementary teachers to teach 2-4 children from 3rd to 7th grade.  We need an English-speaking teacher or teachers for the period June 2009 and beyond.  The school supports children of missionaries serving a rural and underserved area of eastern Honduras.  The children are Miskito (indigenous) and Norwegian.  Their parents serve the area as doctors, pilots, and youth ministers.  The children are fluent in English.  Classes are taught in English.  The older students are using K12 curriculum. 

Even though the number of students is small, you will be an important part of the team.  Your service allows the doctors, for instance, to focus on providing better patient care.
