Position title:  Admission Student Worker 

Summary of the position:  This position will be a 20 hour per week position for student employment.  This student worker will work with the Assistant Director of Operations & Data, Operations & Data Manager, Office Manager, and Admission Counselor supervisors. This position will primarily input data of potential students. 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Back Office support
    1. Data Entry
    2. Advisor Files
    3. Filing
    4. Additional tasks as needed

Qualificiations

1. Strong written & verbal communication skills, practicing good phone etiquette.

2. Maintain an academic and extracurricular schedule that does not prevent one from carrying out responsibilities.

3. Students should be self-motivated and have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

4. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

5. Experience with keyboarding and minimal knowledge of database systems.

ADMISSIONS TELECOUNSELOR

Job Description 

POSITION SUMMARY: 

Telecounseling is a vital part of the recruitment process and often makes the difference in a student’s decision to attend CU or not.  Working with the professional Admission Staff under the direction of the Telecounseling Supervisors, telecounselors are directly involved in working with students in the college selection process. Telecounselors work 6-10 hours a week during our calling hours of Sunday afternoons and/or weekday evening from 4pm – 9pm (excluding Fridays). 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1. Call prospective high school and transfer students who have inquired about CU and answer questions about student life and the admission process.  

2. Identify prospective students that would benefit from further contact from professional staff and/or schedule appointments for prospective students to meet with Admissions Counselors.  

3. Generate correspondence to priority students supplying them with requested information and personalized contact.  

4. Participate in training meetings and remain informed of the CU admission process, campus activities and opportunities at CU.  

5. Set and achieve specific contact goals achieving a high level of productivity. 

6. Follow position guidelines as specified.

Oregon Campus Compact VISTA Summer Associates Program

VISTAAmeriCorps*VISTA:For over 40 years, members of AmeriCorps*VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) have actively served low-income areas by mobilizing people, businesses and organizations with the goal of creating sustainable healthy communities.  The mission of AmeriCorps*VISTA has not changed since mandated by Congress in 1964, “AmeriCorps*VISTA builds permanent infrastructure in non-profit organizations to help them more effectively bring individuals and communities out of poverty.”   

Overview of the Summer Associates Program:ORCC Summer VISTA Corps Members will serve for 10-weeks in programs that aim to prepare at-risk rising 9th graders for a successful transition into high school.  The members will serve as either Program Assistants, providing academic support (tutoring) and general program support at their placement sites, or as Field Trip Coordinators, organizing college and career visits for participants.  These full-time positions will start on or around June 15th.  All Summer Associates will attend a pre-service orientation on Friday, June 12thAs a Summer Associate, your contributions will have an impact on those being served.   

General Eligibility

  • Summer Associates must be at least 18 years of age at the time of placement
  • Be a U.S. Citizen, National or Legal Resident
  • Able to commit and serve on a full-time basis for 10 weeks
  • Not listed on the National Sex Offenders Public Registry

Experience working with youth and some college education are preferred qualifications. 

Benefits and Support:In addition to making a credible effort to help people and communities escape poverty, Summer Associates receive benefits and support during and after successful completion of summer service.   Associates are eligible to receive:

  • A $1,000 Segal AmeriCorps Education Award or a $200 summer stipend
  • On-site orientation and training
  • A living allowance to cover necessities during service
  • Involvement in the AmeriCorps*VISTA Alumni Network and eCommunity

How to Get Involved: We will have two recruitment sessions on April 27th at Portland State and on April 28th (location TBD) from 5:00-7pm. Students will get details of the program, have an interview with Oregon Campus Compact, and will be able to circulate through a “service fair” featuring the placement sites. At the end of the evening, the candidates will turn in their cover letter and resume along with their site preferences. From there, ORCC will screen the members and make referrals to the sites for site interviews. Extra info. sessions will be planned, as needed.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Whereby the institution will recruit Concordia students that are eligible for FWS and will work with these guidelines:

  1. The student worker will tutor or mentor students selected by the organization who are behind their peers or in a position of disadvantage.
  2. The student worker can work within the confines of any preexisting tutoring/mentoring program guidelines of the organization.
  3. The student worker will be trained to understand the program and safety procedures of the organization.
  4. The student worker will hold a position of responsibility to the students and staff at the school from which they serve.  The worker will be held accountable for punctuality, professionalism, and hours worked as set by the institution and the organization.

HOURS

During periods of regular enrollment, students employed under this agreement may work no more than twenty (20) hours per week. When classes are not in session (during vacation breaks or summer), students may work forty (40) hours or more per week.

Students can only be paid for hours actually worked and may not be paid for lunch, vacation, holiday, sick days, or other hours not actually worked.  When a students accumulated gross earnings reach his/her FWS award, (s)he must stop working under this agreement.

Student will be made available to the organization by the institution as the institution shall determine for performance of specific work assignments.  Students may be removed from work on a particular assignment of the organization by the institution, either on its own initiative or at the request of the organization.

Transportation for students to and from their work assignments will not be provided by either the institution or the organization. In the event of injury incurred by a student employee while acting within the scope of his/hers duties, the institution shall resume responsibility as employer.

Compensation for work performed on a project under this agreement will be disbursed –and all payments due as an employer’s contribution under state and federal social security laws, or under any other applicable laws, will be made by the institution.

The student will be paid by the institution based on the established hourly rate (current minimum wage) and number of hours worked.  A written record of hours worked is to be submitted by the organization to the institution on a regular basis in accordance with a schedule issued annually by the institution.  At the institution’s request, the organization agrees to confirm those hours by an authorized signature of an Organization official on verification statement before the institution will release payments to the student employed under this agreement.

Brief Position Summary: The Office of Marketing and Communications is responsible for the marketing of the university to external audiences. Much of this work centers on the creation of print and electronic publications used to communicate key messages to audiences important to the university. As such, we are seeking to develop a small pool of gifted photographers who have an interest in taking photos to be used in these materials, and document events & activities of the Foundation and University. Students who are a part of the photography pool will be on-call to: 

- Document assigned student/campus events through photography.

- Combine artistic talent and technical skill to produce professional photographs.

- Event-specific (on needed basis), minimum wage. 

Requirements:

- Must have prior photography knowledge, will be tested.

- Submit resume along with 5 to 10 sample photographs from portfolio.

- Provide cell and e-mail contact information for scheduling photo shoots

- Students will be compensated at the University rate for time spent taking photos and preparing files for use (minimum wage). All photos taken while a paid employee will become property of the Concordia University Foundation and will be credited as such.

Telefund Worker (30090) Several positions–only the best!

Happy, positive, energetic and responsible students who can represent Concordia well needed to join this spring’s Concordia Telefund Call Team.  This will be our biggest telefund yet so this is an opportunity for many hours of work over a 2 month period (March-April), and only the best will be included!  Hours are most Sunday afternoons and most Mon-Thurs evenings.  Hours are flexible to fit students’ needs, but responsible, mature, and articulate students are desired.  Pay is $8.40 per hour (minimum wage), the experience is fun, and incentives are offered often!
